  • Previous Year Questions (PYQs) are the most critical resource for CSAT, but they are no longer sufficient as a standalone strategy. While they help you decode the UPSC logic and identify high-yield topics like Number Systems and Reading Comprehension, the increasing difficulty of the exam since 2023 requires a more robust approach.
  • PYQs are perfect for diagnostic testing. Solving the last 10 years of papers will help you understand the pattern and identify your weak areas. However, they cannot provide the conceptual shortcuts or the foundational math skills needed to solve questions quickly. If your basics in Quantitative Aptitude are weak, you will need a standard workbook like RS Aggarwal or targeted video lessons from platforms like Sleepy Classes or Unacademy.
  • Furthermore, the recent trend shows lengthier and more complex questions, making time management a major hurdle. To clear the 33% qualifying cutoff comfortably, you must supplement PYQs with sectional mock tests to build speed and accuracy under pressure. Rely on PYQs to master the "type" of questions asked, but use additional practice sets to ensure you don't fall short on calculation speed or logical reasoning during the actual two-hour window.
