The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) provides substantial relaxations for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) to ensure equitable access to civil services. According to the official UPSC PwBD guidelines, candidates with at least 40% certified disability receive a 10-year age relaxation over the standard 32-year limit.
This relaxation is cumulative with other category benefits. Consequently, PwBD candidates from the General or EWS categories can apply until they are 42 years old. Those from the OBC category receive a total relaxation of 13 years, extending their upper age limit to 45 years. For SC or ST candidates, the relaxation totals 15 years, allowing them to compete until the age of 47.
Regarding the number of attempts, PwBD candidates in the General, EWS, and OBC categories are granted 9 attempts, an increase from the standard 6. PwBD candidates belonging to SC or ST categories enjoy unlimited attempts until they reach their maximum age limit of 47. Beyond these concessions, eligible aspirants are exempted from exam fees and can access support services such as scribes and 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour.
