HPPSC HPAS Exam Analysis: Prelims & Mains Trends
HPAS GS Paper I rewards a strong base in Himachal Pradesh GK plus balanced national GS. The UR Prelims cut-off rose from 104.67 in 2024 to 133.75 in 2025 (out of 200), which points to a more scoring 2025 paper and stronger competition. The Aptitude paper is usually moderate and needs only 33%, but it should not be neglected. The 2026 paper analysis will be added here after the exam.

3. Aptitude Test (CSAT) analysis
- Level is broadly Class X for numeracy and data interpretation.
- Comprehension and reasoning take the most time; practise passages daily.
- The target is safety, not merit: aim for 45% or more to cover the 33% requirement with a margin.
- Candidates from humanities backgrounds should practise numeracy weekly from the start.
4. Mains analysis
- GS papers blend national issues with HP-specific questions on schemes, geography, culture and administration.
- The Essay paper often allows topics with a Himachal angle; state examples lift answers.
- English and Hindi are qualifying but candidates do fail them; practise précis and letter writing in both.
- Presentation matters: HPPSC gives credit for orderly, exact and economical expression.
5. Good attempts
Given one-third negative marking, a sensible range in GS Paper I is 80 to 90 attempts with 85% or higher accuracy. That typically yields a score in the 130 to 145 range, which cleared the UR cut-off in both 2024 and 2025.
6. HPAS 2026 analysis
Paper-wise analysis, section difficulty and expected cut-off for HPAS 2026 will be published here after the Prelims on 13 December 2026.
