HPPSC HPAS 2026 Registration: Step-by-Step Application Guide

Quick Facts

HPAS 2026 applications were accepted only online through the One Time Registration (OTR) portal on hppsc.hp.gov.in until 22 September 2026, 11:59 PM. An application counts as submitted only after the Rs. 600 fee is credited to the Commission. Once submitted, no changes are allowed except a category change under Rule 5(iv) of the HPPSC Procedure Rules, 2023.

The 2026 window has closed. This guide remains useful for checking your submitted application, for the separate Mains application and for future HPAS cycles.

2. Steps to apply online

  1. Go to hppsc.hp.gov.in and click Apply Online on the home page.
  2. Open One Time Registration (OTR) for Examinations. New users click New Registration and create a profile.
  3. Log in to the OTR account. The dashboard lists live advertisements.
  4. Select HPAS Combined Competitive Examination-2026 and fill in personal, category, education and preference details.
  5. Choose the Prelims examination centre and the optional subject for Mains.
  6. Upload the required documents, a recent photograph and signature, and capture a live photograph.
  7. Accept the declaration that uploaded documents are legible and true.
  8. Pay Rs. 600 online by debit card, credit card, UPI or another digital mode.
  9. Save the confirmation. The application is complete only after the fee is credited.

3. Fee structure

CategoryFee
All candidates, irrespective of categoryRs. 600

The fee is not refunded and cannot be held for another exam. Applications without the fee, or with a fictitious fee, are rejected.

4. Photograph and live capture

Upload your own recent photograph and capture a live photograph of your face while filling in the form. HPPSC uses this to authenticate identity at the exam hall entry. A mismatch can lead to cancellation, penal action and debarment.

5. Choosing the exam centre

Pick a centre from the 14 stations listed in the notification. Only one application per candidate is accepted; if more than one is submitted, the last one counts. A centre with fewer than 100 candidates may be closed and those candidates moved to their second choice. The centre cannot be changed once chosen, and sitting the exam at any other centre leads to rejection.

6. Category changes after submission

  • Before the closing date: request the Commission in writing to modify the application.
  • After the closing date: inform the Commission in writing within 15 days of the Prelims (before the result), and only if no relaxed standard of age, experience or qualification has been availed.
  • Other changes: not allowed once the application is submitted.

7. Mains application

Candidates declared qualified in the Prelims submit a separate online application with a separate fee within the time set by HPPSC. Eligibility is scrutinised at this stage, and candidates who do not meet the criteria are rejected provisionally. They get 10 days, including Sundays and holidays, to represent with documents by e-mail or in person.

8. Common mistakes to avoid

  • Wards of Ex-Servicemen choosing the Ex-Servicemen code.
  • Reserved candidates from other states selecting a reserved code instead of code 01.
  • Entering a date of birth that differs from the Matriculation certificate.
  • Uploading blurred documents. You must accept that poor scans can be the sole reason for rejection.
  • Using an e-mail or mobile number you may lose access to before the result.
